Nigerian Actress Tonto Dike Emerges Best Actress At African Film Awards

of the moment Tonto Dike has emerged winner of the Actress of the year award at
the African Film Awards aka Afro Hollywood Awards. The winners of the 17th
African Film Awards were announced by Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)
Governorship candidate in Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu SAN assisted by his
deputy Dr. Paul Akintelure at a special ceremony held in Akure, Ondo State.
Also new kid on the block, Kiki Omeili of ‘Married but Living Single’ emerged
as Best Actress in a Supporting role defeating Oge Okoye and Nse Ikpe Etim in
the process. Other winners inlcude Femi Adebayo Salami who defeated Odunlade
Adekola and Gabriel Afolayan to emerge the winner Best Actor in the Yoruba
language film category, Ayo Adesanya, Best Actress Yoruba language film category
and Toyin Aimaku, Best Supporting Actress Yoruba language film category.
Speaking on the event, Prince Mike Abiola, publisher of African Voice Newspaper
UK and Chairman of the awards organization said he was pleased with the turn
out of the result of the strenous work of the film panelists who endeavored to
see many Nollywood films as winners. He further stated that the decision to
host the ceremony in Ondo State was made as part of the need for changes to how
African leaders support entertainment and tourism. The winner of the Best Male
actor English film category will be announced in London and will see Joseph
Benjamin, Van Vicker and Jafta Mamabolo contend for winner. The 17th African
Film Awards 2012 a.k.a Afro Hollywood Awards ceremony will hold on Saturday 3
November at the historic Stratford Town Hall, 29 Broadway, Stratford and London.
